Writing and Publishing Your Memoir

Your life is a story with drama, meaningful relationships, and unique insights. Whether you’re writing for self-­exploration, publication, or to create a family legacy, this seminar with acclaimed author and memoirist, Brenda Peterson, and successful New York literary agent, Sarah Jane Freymann, can help you create and publish your memoir. For more personal attention, we’re limiting the class to 20 students.

Brenda Peterson is the author of 17 books, including the recent memoir, I Want To Be Left Behind: Finding Rapture Here on Earth, which was selected as a “Top Ten Best Non-­‐‑Fiction Book of 2010” by The Christian Science Monitor and an Indie Next “Top Read.” Her first memoir, Build Me an Ark: A Life with Animals was selected as a “Best Spiritual Book of the Year.” She’s been teaching private classes for two decades. Many of her students are published.

Sarah Jane Freymann has been a successful literary agent since 1974. Her agency helps writers from inception through publication, and takes a hands-­on approach — from focusing and shaping proposals to polishing manuscripts. Deal-­makers,
matchmakers, and savvy negotiators, Sarah Jane’s agency is knowledgeable about the market and has excellent relationships with editors. Sarah Jane is passionate about books, enthusiastic about new media and excited about projects that introduce
new ideas.
